Filming the Last Shots

Image
Today my group and I had our final day of filming. I met up with my team members after school and we took the bus to Rashawn's house. When we arrived we went to his room and discussed the plan for the day. It was decided that we would follow our original storyboard and improvise if we needed to. I carried the equipment and we made our way to a park near Rashawn's house.     The park was the main location for filming. I would still play the main role of James, Rashawn was Kofi, and Hadar was the DE Agent. The first few shots were simple. I acted out the scene of James meeting Kofi at the park.       An issue that we experienced during the filming was the camera. I worked with Rashawn to set up the camera angles. The tripod that we had wasn't working correctly and fell over a few times. The camera ran out of battery after a few takes and we had to improvise. I took out my phone and we used it for filming.      Using my phone we were able to get the last shots we needed

Incidental Music

My group finished its first day of filming on Sunday. We filmed the first 2 scenes of the movie and are planning on meeting up again sometime soon to get the final shots. After the filming session Rashawn messaged me and asked if I wanted to work on more music with him for the film. The soundtrack was already created for the film, but Rashawn had another idea. He suggested that I help him work on the incidental music.      The incidental music would help to tie the scenes together and possibly create a better ambience. Using the incidental music would help to amplify the ambient sounds of cars passing by on the side of the road. I agreed to call Rashawn and talk about what we can create.      Rashawn and I discussed each shot and the possible options that we had available. We could either make incidental music that made the scene either more exciting or tense.       If the music is exciting then it would make the film feel more positive. It would help to make the film feel almost

The Beginning of Filming

Image
Sunday was the fist date of filming for the movie. My group members met up with me at my house for filming. Rashawn brought his film equipment and a plan for each shot for the day. The plan was to record for the first scene of James waking up for school, and the scene of him walking to the school bus. I agreed that I would be the actor for James. Rashawn and Hadar worked on camera crew in order to set up the different types of shots.     We started by filming the scenes inside of the house. Rashawn and Hadar had me acting out a normal daily routine. Getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, and leaving the house. Each scene they had me act out an almost comedic bad luck scenario. An example would be that when I was "brushing my teeth" the faucet wouldn't work. They had me act out trying to turn the faucet on and off to try and fix it. But in the end I give up and just walk away.      After we filmed the scenes in the house we went outside. Outside I started to act out J

Making Music

Today I helped my teammate Rashawn make music for the film. I met him after school at the bus loop and we went back to his place. I decided and planned that we split up the work. Rashawn would work using FL studio to create the music, and I would work on finding audio tracks and sounds to use in it. We started to work on the project together.       After a while of working Rashawn had ran into an issue. His computer had froze and he hadn't saved in the last 30 minutes. I initially started to panic. We were about to lose a large amount of work. I took a few deep breathes and decided to think of what to do. After about 10 minutes Rashawn and I couldn't think of anything to do to try and save the situation. We ultimately decided that we just had to turn off the computer and start again.     I decided that it might be a good idea to take a break and get something to eat. I ordered a pizza and we took a quick lunch break before continuing again. Rashawn turned on his computer a

Types of Music for the Film

Image
My group and I decided that for our project we are going to create our own music. One of the most important steps to creating our own music is deciding the genre. I have a few ideas for what would be good choices for my groups film. Hip-Hop The first few scenes show the main character going through his daily life. The main character is a young male high school student. A popular genre that is often used is hip-hop music to show a montage of a teenagers life. Hip-hop provides an upbeat tone that can help comedic moments showing the main characters bad luck. Pop Music Pop is another classic genre used to show a young characters day to day life. Pop is very similar to hip-hop music with its effect on the reader. Pop could be a better choice over hip-hop due to the popularity of the genre. Pop music is more often played on the radio and many listeners are familiar with the songs. Working with an artist that has popularity could help to promote the film. Ambient Music Ambient music is

Final Task Storyboard

Page 1: James Murphey, the main character, wakes up, gets yelled at by his mom to go to school, and spills all his cereal on the floor in a rush. He rushes out the house, forgets his keys then goes back to get them, and goes to the bus stop. He checks his pockets to make sure the drugs are still there and he gets splashed by puddle water. He realizes that he missed the bus so he calls his mom to pick him up. The next scene on this page is him in an alleyway afterschool waiting for his friend Kofi. Page 2: Kofi and James meet, and James gives Kofi drugs. It turns out that Kofi was working with the police, and a DEA agent finds them and runs after James. Page 3: As James is running away from the DEA agent, he runs into a homeless man which blocks his way and allows the DEA agent to catch up to him. The DEA agent handcuffs James and James is furious at Kofi and sad that he got caught.
